M’sia Car

It seems that my dad prefer to drive the Mercs (as mentioned in this post), so he gave me the BMW E32 730i to drive instead. I took it out for a 200km drive on Sunday, all the way to Yong Peng and back.. it is a nice car to drive, and is really not bad :)

Btw, to clarify some rumors.. for those born before after 1990, they can obtain their driving license at age 18. There are some really crap rumors out there saying that people born after 1990 can only get their license at age 21 lol.

Movie Review: Accident

Fetched my baobei from work and went to bugis and walked around and watched a movie :)

Accident (意外)

Director:
Pou-Soi Cheang

Starring:
Louis Koo as the Brain
Richie Ren as Fong
Michelle Ye

Synopsis:
A self-styled accident choreographer, the Brain is a professional hitman who kills his victims by trapping them in well crafted accidents that look like unfortunate mishaps but are in fact perfectly staged acts of crime. Perennially plagued with guilt, he is also suspicious and morbid by nature. The recent avalanche of memories of his lost wife does not make things any easier.
After one mission accidentally goes wrong, causing the life of one of his men, the Brain is convinced that this accident has been choreographed: someone is out there plotting to terminate him and his team. He becomes increasingly paranoid, walking on the thin line between reality and delusion.
When he is accosted by a mysterious insurance agent Fong who happened to be on the scene of the accident as well, the Brain becomes obsessed that this man must be the mastermind behind a conspiracy to take him out. To regain his sanity and to safe his life, he must strive to kill Fong before he makes his next move.

Personal thoughts:
Casting/Acting: As with most Hong Kong films, the cast is always famous actors and actresses, to increase the popularity of the film.. Not that it is a bad thing, but sometimes you get sick of seeing the same people over and over again. The actors and actresses do play their part well as expected of seasoned actors and actresses. 4/5
Storyline: This is perhaps one of the few Hong Kong films that do not have an expected ending.. Other Hong Kong films are just so, predictable, you would know how it will end 30 minutes into the film. The storyline is a bit hollow though, maybe it is because it is a pretty short film.. 89 minutes, when the show ended you would be asking, “that’s all?”. Credit, of course, must be given that the plot is not that conventional, so storyline: 4/5
Technicalities: All filming and sound and effects are good, film angles appropriate, clear sound, effects well executed. There are a little problems with continuity, but not obvious at all. 4/5
In conclusion, I rate this movie 4/5 :)

P/S: I need to get my baobei to post our 11th month pictures up :)

Update: 11th month photos!

Movie marathon!

Had a movie marathon with my baobei on Sunday :) watched The Ugly Truth, Blood Ties, and The Proposal :) It was a miracle that we didn’t fall asleep lol :)

The Ugly Truth and The Proposal was nice, standard Hollywood style. Blood Ties btw, is not really a horror movie, heck, it was not even scary. Instead, it was just gruesome. Being a Singaporean movie, some acting was not very convincing, especially the gunfights. The gunfights felt like some secondary school kids in a video club trying to make a gunfight film but failed. There was also quite a lot of loopholes in the plot lol :) I LOVE YOU BAOBEI LAOPO A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! New Car =D

My dad just got me a car in JB (: A 1995 Mercedes-Benz W140 S320 (: Technically it is my car, registered under my name and all, but he would be driving it anyway when he does not feel like driving his BMW E32 730i.. Update: The BMW became mine instead, my dad drove the Merc.

Anyway, pics!

Yup, it is a very big car.. with a 3.2 litres engine.. Some more it is the long wheelbase version.. Even though it is a old car, it has this luxurious feel to it.. and it is very technologically advanced (: All seats, including the backseats, are motorised, you push buttons to adjust your seat (: You do not need to slam the door to make sure the door is closed, as the door will close by itself even if it is not fully closed (: There are a lot of cool features, but heck, i’m lazy to type them out lol (:

The W140 introduced innovations such as double-pane window glazing, power-assisted closing for doors and boot lid, electric windows which lowered back down upon encountering an obstruction, rear-parking markers which rose from the rear wings (discontinued on later vehicles, and replaced with sonar-assisted parking) and a heating system which, if desired, continued to emit warm air after the engine was turned off. For details like this, the W140 is often known as the last Mercedes to be “overengineered,” a Mercedes trait that was costing the company in product delays and overbudgeting. According to Motor Trend, this action reportedly caused project cost overruns and resulted in the departure of Wolfgang Peter, Daimler-Benz’s chief engineer.[2] The vehicle is believed to have cost Mercedes-Benz over $1 billion to develop. For the consumer, the W140 cost a considerable 25 percent more than its predecessor, the W126.
